Buyer beware this is only a 12 megapixal camera, though it is full frame. Remember most DX cameras today have double the megapixels starting with the Nikon D 3200.

What’s wrong with 12 megapixels?

Nothing! $ for $ it's probably one of the best cameras Nikon has made.
you cannot judge the camera only for number of mega pixels it has , with my D700 i made photos 4 ft X 7 ft to decore whole walls of houses , for years D700 was the best camera ever produced together with D3 that has same number of mega and was priced at double.

With all due respect, aware of what? The D700 is near 10 years old and still it is a popular camera. This camera was introduced as a small D3. The pixels in the CMOS sensor are of excellent quality and similar to the images of the D3 since the same sensor is shared with both cameras. Do not expect that a camera with 24 megapixels is going to do better than the D700 because that simply will not happen. The enlargements I have seen from the D700 when using good glass are of excellent quality.
The only problem here is that the camera is old and I do not know how difficult it could be to find parts for it. I admit that regarding noise it is not better than modern cameras, something important for those working in low light often.
perfectly right , pls see attached one of my shoot with D700 put on sale , is the entrance of my italian restaurant in Peachtree city GA , photo is 10 x15 feets , it is the Arch of Costantino in Rome

I like your restaurant and the picture!!! If you were in Florida I'd stop by! (long drive to Georgia). I have (2) D90's 12mp and I think they take very good photos. Compared to my D3200, I prefer the D90. Nothing wrong with 12 mp, since they are larger pixels. I like the D700 too, full frame someday!.
Cheers!

Ridiculous and unnecessary, just plan bad, wrong, misguided, uninformed, naive and rude!
PS. The D700 is a great camera!

What a ridiculous implication to make. You obviously haven't learned much about Nikon cameras in your time on this site. I take and sell photos made with my D700 and my D810. Most people will never tell the difference in photo quality between the two. Three years ago my son shot a wedding with a Nikon set three megs because of a equipment disaster. The bride was thrilled with the results. The largest enlargement I've made with the D700 was a 3 foot by 4 foot poster taken at a high school wrestling match. The biggest advantage to large megapixel cameras is that you can crop more pictures out of them.
"Buyer beware..." Horse crap. I still use a D700 from time to time. It produces very fine images.

What a rude thing to do on someone's classified. I still shoot with my D700 and it still takes great photos. I have had no trouble using the photos or enlarging for whatever is needed. Some people have no sense!

Who elected you to be the for sale section Police. I'm sure that anyone interested would know that or research before buying.
thanks to everyone who are blessing my D700 camera , unfortunately for many people the only "reason to buy" is the number of megapixels , most probably for 80% of them it is enaugh a good smartphone that today has more megapixels of the camera
