Nikon are not innovators. They are followers.
They will never grow market share with that strategy.

Stick to your guns. Never let the facts interfere with your opinions. With the exception of AMP metering (which every camera now has some form off), you are mostly right about Nikon following the footprints of other camera companies with "new features". Their MO has always been to take new trends and "tweek" them to Nikon's high standards. And yet they rose to be "Top Dog" during the 70s and 80s and are still considered one of the top, most respected camera companies in the world.

Sorry, but have you lost your mind? "Desperate?" "Typical?"

Apparently MJ is not a Nikon fan. I wonder what he has against the company.

The top three digital camera manufacturers are also in alphabetical order. Canon, Nikon, Sony. I got this ranking by looking at dozens of web sites that rank manufacturers and their products and sales statistics.
Canon has been consistently ranked number 1 for years. Nikon and Sony have flip flopped a few times based on product offerings and sales figures. Nikon has always outranked Sony on DSLR sales, imagine that.
Even though several UHH members have declared pocket cameras dead, apparently they are incorrect. Looks like point and shoot and bridge cameras still have a strong following outside the USA and are still selling rather well in the USA.

I keep my feeder filled all year around. Yes, I keep my camera and with lens facing window on the south side of house.
However, when not in use, I simply tip the lens down, and cover with clean cloth. So far, no problems. Know, however, that if
lens is exposed directly to the sun, it will cause damage.
Sorry for your loss.

Yes - they were certainly a better company in the 1970's and 80's.
1970 is 48 years ago.

Thank you, yes a lesson learned, but glad the price has come down on them, I received my replacement D7200 yesterday.

Just in time for the holiday season, Bruce. Best of luck with it.

I wonder if it's a grey market camera. Our Wal-Mart has quit selling cameras, unfortunately. But at that price, I'd go down and pick one up myself. The D7200 is a fine camera.

Looking at their website it seems that much of their camera and lens equipment seems to be grey market. Much lower prices and very little warranty info. No response when inquiring about warranty.

The camera I received had a Canadian warranty and I registered it with Nikon Canada so if ever needed I will send it to Canada for work.

Does anyone use Luminar 2018 software? I am playing with it, but cannot find how to import images from a card in the card reader. Is there an ;import" button somewhere?

Not nice to high=jack a discussion, you would be best submitting your question to the digest. But to answer your question, no you just import the images from your camera to your computer then open them up in Luminar. They are still working on making a DAM for Luminar.

Sounds like a plan and good info to know. Is a lot of their merchandise Canadian warranty?

I have purchased camera equipment from Canada before and had it serviced by Nikon in Canada, apparently they do not have the same policy as Nikon USA. As I understand it Nikon USA gets a sales dollar amount for every Nikon camera imported by them and sold through the retailers and that is why they have the policy of only servicing those cameras and lenses sold through USA, but Canada does not have the same policy.

Do they offer a 5yr lens warranty like Nikon USA?
