Has anyone used the Wasabi brand battery in their Nikon D7200 or D750 and if so what was your take on performance.

Always concerned that Nikon won't honor the warranty if you get caught using 3rd party batteries, so i play it safe. The other thing I read from Nikon is 3rd party batteries might not give you the same number of shots and may not last the 4 years Nikon advertises. Another reason I play it safe is because of all the exploding battery stories. On the other hand, Best Buy sells re-fuel (tm) batteries for Nikon EL15 replacements. Best Buy probably wouldn't carry them unless they felt comfortable with them. Sorry, haven't heard of the Wasabi brand.

Of all the components in the Nikon D7200 or D750 only the battery has the ability to seriously damage (read destroy) the unit.
And it would be likely the very last place I would substitute a clone knockoff...

All batteries are a known risk, it would be prudent to go with OEM here...

We’ve been using Wasabi batteries in ALL our cameras for the last several years with no complaints or problems. Icurrently shoot with a D500 and a D7200.

I have had Nikon En-EL15 batteries and then I've had Wasabi and many of the other "off" brand replacement batteries for the En-EL15. I've thrown away all of the "off brand" batteries. They did not last and were (in my opinion) not worth the "savings". Also, if I send my camera into Nikon for repair, they want to make sure that the battery is a Nikon. It isn't worth the risk.

I use both Wasabi and Nikon. First in a D7000, now D7200. My oldest Wasabi is appx. five years old and still kicking. I can't detect a discernible difference in performance between the two (Nikon/Wasabi). They both shoot approximately the "same" number of exposures- conditions are never the same- charging takes about the same amount of time. I have never heard of a Wasabi exploding, leaking, or destroying a camera. I'm sure it's happened… I'm sure it's happened with Nikon batteries too. Every time this topic comes around, people state their same opinions, Chicken Little-ing about voiding manufacturers' warranties (gee, a whole year...), explosions, batteries stealing your daughters, lighting your airplane carry-on on fire ... I see it as much ado about nothing. Go ahead and try them. I think you'll be pleased. I have had absolutely no problems with Wasabi batteries. Wasabi appears to be the "leading" non-OEM supplier of 15s and has kept up with the change Nikon made to this "same" model… and I definitly don't have a problem with their price. I *would* stay away from other replicators; I don't think they have as much experience/ installed base as Wasabi.

I don't have either of the cameras you mentioned, but I have used Wasabi batteries in several cameras over the years. They have always performed well.

I have used Wasabi both in Nikon and Fuji and they perform like the originals.

You’ll hear a lot people say “it works fine”.... until it doesn’t. What is the risk vs the reward? You have over $2k of camera equipment. Is it worth saving $30 or so on a critical component. I go with OEM batteries. If they ever did manage to damage my cameras, in this case Nikon, I know who to go back to.

All I can say is I've had five years of good experience with Wasabi, no failures; I usually take the battery *out* of my cameras when I ship them.

I won't use anything but the factory battery. Save a few $$$ and destroy a camera.

I have two Nikon batteries and two non-OEM batteries. I’ve used all equally for three years. Both of the non-OEM batteries died recently. The Nikon batteries are still going strong. They’ve always held a charge and delivered more shots. My replacement batteries will be Nikon. The savings isn’t worth it to me.

Most camera batteries are made in the same few factories. They are made to the specs the camera manufacturers require for their various models. Do you really think there is a Nikon battery factory, I think not. Nikon batteries are probably made in the same place most of the 3rd party ones are. It’s time we all wake up to this.
