Well, couldn't think of a good title - any ideas? And how do you like it? All thoughts received gratefully. My own first thought is 'rather expensive on ink'.

David,
Had it, indeed, been an ink rendering, I would judge payment for the ink to have been well invested, indeed!
I love it...all the more (or especially because of...?) recapitulation of the common angle of the Jacob’s ladders in the reflection from the sea.

Many seascapes can provide some sense of isolation at sea. This image, IMO, is unequivocal evocation of utter isolation!

Well seen and superbly well accomplished!

Dave

I’m pleased it does Richard - to be honest, I wasn’t sure people would ‘get it’.

Very nice of you to say so Dave, you’ve seen exactly what I saw in it, although to get this degree of isolation has taken a bit of enhancement. One of my favourite local spots.

Thanks Bob, your opinion is much appreciated. This is my first use of motion blur in an ‘artistic’ manner rather than a simply ‘mechanical’ manner and I’m pleased with it.

Captivating image that demands close inspection. Showing the original would be very interesting in this case.

This is a jpeg of the original raw file. There are four working layers: a selection of just the sea, with horizontal and near vertical motion blur, a B&C adjustment layer attached to the first layer, a copy layer selecting just the sky and adding a near vertical motion blur, then a H&S adjustment layer attached to that. The highlight on the sea is in the original. Darkening is entirely due to the use of a Vivid Light blend mode. I think this explanation is about right - unfortunately Ps filters are not very trackable unless the filter type is noted in the layer title.

Title suggestion - "C-beams glitter in the dark", from the Tears in Rain soliloquy in Blade Runner.

Quite a pice of Art, Magnetoman! Don't suppose it would be any cheaper on a dark paper.
As an aside I'm surprised at how slowly my EPSON ET7700 sips ink, though I've not done so many prints as I'd anticipated. This is a refillable system using their ink tank system.

Before I saw your 2nd photo I had no idea what I was looking at. Apparently I was the only one. I don't "get it". Oh well.

Crikey RG, that’s a bit deep for an old boy like me! Had to look-up c-beams (I’m sure sons 2 and 3 could have enlightened me but they’re elsewhere). Now don’t go dying on my behalf, will you?
