Ordered in late August at announcement. Shipping notice form FedX arrived today... on the way! ;-)

I ordered mine from Mikes Cameras in Colorado Springs 2 weeks ago. I got it Friday afternoon with the 24-70-mm f/4 lens but no adapter. I will get the adapter Monday. The menus are a little different from the other Nikon cameras but it shoots fantastic.

I was checking out the Z7 at a photography expo recently. I was surprised to see that the camera showed moire patterns in the ceiling of the room. The room had panels in the ceiling that have fine parallel lines. When I was looking through the camera, I could see moire patterns. The Z7 doesn't have an anti-aliasing filter in front of the sensor. The Z6 has an anti-aliasing filter. That should preclude the chance of moire occurring when photographing objects with fine textures.

The good news: the camera, adapter, and lens arrived today from Cameta.

The bad news: Adorama hasn’t shipped the xqd card I ordered Friday and says it will be three day shipping. And of course they won’t deliver on Thanksgiving. And Best Buy is out of the 32 GB ones.

A less good news I can live with: the camera rejects my 3rd party battery. Fortunatey I have a Nikon one from my D800 I am using while the one that came with it charges. And yes, the Z6 does come with a charger.

And a slight compensation: the camera works without a card so at least I can play with it. I have no idea how many images the buffer will hold or if the images will transfer when I get a card to stick in it. So I might be using one of my other cameras for Thanksgiving pics.

And a cool little thing: the manual suggests a couple of pdf manuals. It provides one of the 2d bar codes and when I put my ipad camera on it (with the bar code app) it went to the web page for the downloads.

I was reading the owner's manual and found something that surprised me. While the Z6 & Z6 can charge the battery in camera, according to the manual the charger comes with the Z7 but not with the Z6.

They originally said mine would be delivered 11/26. That was moved up to 11/23. This morning it says I'll have it Wednesday. Next they'll be telling me it came yesterday.

Z6 comes with charger.

Plus you can charge the battery that comes with it in the camera with a usb cable. But that won’t work with the earlier battery versions. And the camera rejected one of my non-Nikon branded batteries.

The Z7, according to Nikon, comes with 2 chargers. One is for changing in the camera.

See page 52 if you have the combined Z6/Z7 owner's manual.

Yes.

I wonder if one can use the iPhone wall connector and supplied usb cable to charge? They cost about $5 vs. the $49 that Nikon wants for the wall adapter.

I have determined that the battery charger works with any EL15 battery.

BTW although the index says p. 52 the info is actually on p. 28 in the pdf manual on my ipad.

I am going to start a separate thread for people to share impressions as they learn about the Z6.

I just completed the unboxing. The big brown truck was earlier than usual. Lucky for you folks that I have no idea how to do video. The menus were easy to use to set the camera pretty much the way I want it. I do need to look more closely at the focus modes. I hope to go to Assateague NWR Friday morning as I will be staying fairly close over Thanksgiving.

It did not come with the charger for charging in camera, and the port looks like it takes a proprietary plug. I doubt I would use it anyway. I have a couple of small cameras that came with in camera charging only. I bought third party chargers for them to charge outside the camera.

The image is the Z6 and D850, both with their 24-70mm lenses.

I go to the Chincoteague NWR sometimes which is just south of Assateague. I'm trying to see if I can get there soon. I think Tundra Swans are migrating south now.

Adorama (and ups) lied. They said my xqd card would come on Friday. It came this evening! So I’m good to go with it for Thanksgiving. I think I’ll shoot jpeg with it tomorrow so I can be reasonably sure of getting the images into Lightroom.

I think I’ll also bring my D5600 along to be sure I can get at least some of the images into Lightroom. Even though I ordered the adapter to put images from the xqd card into the computer earlier it hasn’t come yet. Maybe I’ll need to figure out the wireless or camera usb modes.

There is a usb cable in the package. It might work with an iPhone wall unit to charge in camera.

Your image rebuts the claims that mirrorless aren’t smaller! And in particular the lens.

I saw nothing in the manual about charging through usb. The usb cable I believe is only for transferring images. Obviously I could have missed something.

I was, at first, very disappointed with the viewfinder image. The my mail came and my eye glasses came from the VA. I don't need the glasses to take pictures but they acted as a reminder to set the diopter. What a difference.

Good luck.

One little thing I haven’t seen before. I was setting the camera up for tomorrow and the focus showed MF. I changed it to AF-S several times, and each time I went back to the I view it showed MF.

As I was checking the lens switch I noticed the lens was in the store position. Rotating it to the zoom range brought up AF-S!
