Thanks for your comments. Like you I am retired, but now mostly just tired!
They look pretty special to me. I should be this good.

Otter, this is an awesome set of photos and all are close up.
I realize that this is a close up forum and all, but I post almost all of my photos here and some are anything but close up. The individuals here are about the best individuals on UHH and I welcome thier comments is my reason for doing so.

Thanks! I believe all of the above were shot with a Nikon D2x and Nikkor 200mm micro lens. VERY OLD school now (camera at least) but with a lot of luck one can still get decent pics, at least snapshot quality (sometimes). Spending a LOT OF TIME in the field with a decent tripod seems to work best for me. I'm sure you can do as well and likely much better!

I also handcraft split bamboo fly fishing rods which some seem to feel are high quality, yet in my mind they are still just "fishin' poles"!

Thanks! Good folks do hang around here for sure.
Having spent a good part of my professional life
bent over high quality light microscopes (Zeiss, Leitz, etc.) I guess I have a difficult time differentiating between close up and macro photography. I thought that when I purchased my first micro /macro lens back in the '60s in my mind I thought I was doing macro photography.
With better cameras and fantastic minds things do change, for the better obviously, so I feel more comfortable with "close up" I suppose.

Very nice! That first one looks a lot like some chanterelles.
