Well, it IS a birdfeeder! He probably thinks you're bringing him a feathered buffet just for him!

I have a coopers hawk that comes around once a week. I guess he doesn't want to have the birds get more wary then they already are. vz

At least it's not a cat. I have cat issues at my feeder.

We had a peregrine falcon problem for a while. I don't think he was ever successful at the feeder, but it was a great bird to see for a change.

My dentist has a bird feeder near the big windows in his treatment rooms - patients can enjoy watching the birds. But he says a hawk has learned that if it swoops down from the trees, there is a high likelihood that at least one bird will hit the window as the birds scatter - the hawk will then swoop down and grab it. He says that can be a little unsettling for some of his patients as they watch the scene unfold in front of them...

We have a juvenile hawk that keeps sizing up my 10 pound dog (can he snag it and go?) when we go out for walks. If I spot the hawk, I keep the dog reined in tight. They are beautiful birds.

I really doubt a hawk could carry off a 10# dog, but definitely could do some damage. Good to keep your puppy close however.

Nice shots but the other birds aren't appreciating your interest in such a beautiful visitor.
