Thanks. They are on schedule!
I downloaded it. Wow, the zipped file was an 18MB download.

It has some much needed goodies like increased burst memory buffer,
some benign Rebel-like editing in-camera editing nonsense to clutter up menus,
and failed to add some easily added and much needed features (like more than 3 brackets for bracketing).

But all-in-all, it is a welcomed major upgrade!

Now I'm waiting for a few others to test it in vitreo before I take the final leap and install it in my 7D. Just cautious after previous burns...

My version was only 16mb. It-oh; hope I'm not missing something.

Odd. The download was 18.7MB, zipped.
The actual firmware file was 17.1MB
There were three versions listed on Canon's website. Two of them were the previous releases under version 1. Check for the one dated Aug 2012

Ah, the annoying oddity of how different operating systems calculate and then display file sizes. Clearly we are runiing different OSs.

I think we are all looking at the same file, so... how goes it?
There is no easy path back to the OEM version.

so far so good. I haven't run into a glitch yet. I hope there are no bugs in it. In hindsight I should have waited a week to install to make sure.

Installed without any problems. Still testing new features. Also, if you are using wireless file transfers with the 7D, there is a new firmware update to apply. Issued today.

WFT-E5 A/B/C/D Firmware Version 1.0.7 [Windows] (Wireless File Transmitter for the EOS 7D)
