Windows is about to update your WINDOWS 10 pro machines on Tuesday.....there is a very distinct possibility that you may have problems with ASCOM and related Astro software.

Thanks for the Heads Up, Ed.
I use Winderz 10 Home Edition, but every time I get and update, it's always a screwupdate.
Then it takes some fixes to repair the screwup.
I think the last time around I had to reinstall some of my programs.

One class I had on computer use, the instructor talked about Windows Help, or as she called it, Windows NO Help.
And she got pretty extensive on the power of the Right Click.
Good class. I think that was back about the time Al Gore claimed he invented the Internet, Winderz 95, first edition era.

I've had an "unhandled exception warning " for the past 2 nights Ed , since getting that update with Sgp . I click continue and all my equipment will connect but, I can't setup my targets , therefore I no run sequence. I hope the problem gets addressed within a week, I would love to get some more data on M31. I really would like to see how I'm doing this time around.

Humm.......I haven't upgraded SGP for the last two upgrades. I look to see what the program addresses.....if they are issues that do not affect me (support for cameras I don't have or bugs to fix issues I don't use) I pass on the updates/upgrades. In other words, if it ain't broke, leave it be!

I have no idea if it is a SGP or Windows dealie.

I don't know what it is right off but, I'm setting up the focuser and ran into a block until I get out and get everything resituated. I passed on the updates and bug fixes before but , this last one I clicked on it due to it acting funny last time I was out . It just wasn't cooperating when I did the 1st plate solve but, the 2nd solve was within 34 pixels at a 50 pixel setting. I haven't a clue to that one but, I take it anytime.

Gotcha! Fingers crossed it works itself out. We are looking good Friday night ....I have a football game to photograph but I am going to set everything up (I have never tried this before) before I leave for the game - and hopefully the script will sync the mount - platesolve - focus - then start imaging. I will be home before a flip but it will be close so I have it set up to auto flip - plate solve - and image until M31 reaches 30 degrees. I hope to get 6 hours of usable Ha to light up the red regions around the Andromeda stack I did last week.

Worse case scenario - if my script fails ....when i get home from the game I can start then.

By the way, I shipped my other Atlas Pro off to DeepSpaceProducts, Edward Thomas for a hypertune job. He did my other Atlas Pro and it is so much better. It is not cheap but much less expensive than a high end mount - I no longer deal with backlash issues - platesolving-gotos - PA are a breeze. It was a difference maker. Now I am broke again. I hate having to tell my wife that she will not get anything for Christmas again this year :)

Did you try calling me last week? I just saw your private message. I never look up there.

I just sent you a message Ed , I've got the driver installed and everything connects in SGP but, with that message that I'm getting at startup for sgp . I can't get my targets set up. I'm going to select one of my saved m31 sequences and hopefully that'll get me on board. Fingers are crossed for that to work until the gets debugged or what ever is causing the problem is remedied. The backyard is filled with water and I don't even want Alanna to attempt to move my equipment up the hill to the drive , I've got things to do before I can get to the point where I can run . Friday ? you say , I'm asking for a miracle that the yard has some dry time or I'm not going to be able to get set up .

Friday after 12 midnight now.....that's the latest. Saturday is looking better. Given that I will be working a game Friday I will probably forego doing Friday imaging. How did you send the message? I don't have a text, email or private message.

Ed , I'm READY TO PULL MY HAIR OUT ! I need some of that teamviewer help to get this SGP to work . Alanna is yelling at me as I type this , she's even fed up with this stuff. She says this astronomy software is not user friendly and I better find one of my buddies that know it help me.

Sound like a Valium would serve you both......this stuff is without question capable of causing a stroke. What drives me nutz......I will have one or two nights with no issues and then out of nowhere - same kit - same computer - plugged into same ports.....but the computer just decides to "spin" and "clock" for no reason. I have to reboot.....start the cooling all over again as well as load all software - and it may happen several more times before it heals itself. Then the next time out - everything goes as planned. Don't venture into this hobby with a thin skin - little patience - and a burning desire for perfection.

I'm pretty darn patient , I've had so many nights when I set up my sequence during daylight and connect all equipment and everything goes smooth. Then there are nights when I go back out and open for a run and something won't connect or the plate solve is so far off , I've got to center it myself. Then to beat them all the sequence won't run and I try everything and end up setting up a new sequence right there in the dark with my headlight. Tell me again about patience with this capture software? Set it and get frustrated more than set it and forget it , A lot of my problem is user error cognition really stinks and I set up everything before I take my afternoon meds but, there are sometimes when I have to reset everything and that's a thorn in my side. I'll keep looking for an answer Ed , last resort is calling Jared.
