I don't see where critique was requested.

Sue, that is a great photo. My departed Wife would have loved to be in a photo like that. She had a show horse before We met; She loved horse's soo much.

Great job on the photo! I need to go wipe a tear away.

A little criticism never hurt anyone - in this case it made me take a second look at this picture and yes, it lacked some contrast and needed a bit of extra tweaking.

About the picture itself - it was purely a candid shot taken during a lull in the afternoon's activities. I liked the effect of Stephanie and Roxie facing in different directions - in the original image Steph was looking at her husband who was walking away - I cropped him out as being a distraction. I used the "Aged Photo" preset to achieve the muted effect which is why it needed a little added contrast. As to the barn, it gives context to the farm setting and also some extra color.

So, anyway, thanks for all the comments and constructive criticism - all much appreciated! I'm including the new and hopefully improved version of the original post.

I think the rules indicate that in the Gallery section, critique should only be offered if the O.P. requested it. You will see some posters indicate that critique is welcome by posting "critique welcome." In the past, we had some individuals who seemed to take great joy in denigrating the posts in the Gallery section, running off many members. I think this is why this rule is in place. There are other sections for critique. If the O.P. had welcomed critique here, all she had to do is indicate that critique was welcome.

I know Sue. It just brought back some memories of Her. I can't believe She has been gone since May of 2015.

Really nice picture. Good tonality on my screen. Looks like end of a dull day; depicts that very well instead of glossing up the weather.
Background detail adds to interest without detracting from main subjects. I would tone down two white rocks and slightly bump up overall contrast.
This is much more natural and interesting than a posed horse and woman looking at the camera.
Of course I love the texture of brown suede.

I do like the photo. It's a great pic of Sue AND Stephanie. Color coordination is perfect. It will be an eyecatcher when printed and framed.

Thanks for your comment - I had no idea when posting this picture that it would generate so much controversy - it's turned out to be a real learning experience! BTW - I'm behind the camera, not in the picture. I think you confused me with Roxie the horse!
