Question about Spyder 5+ settings in iMac System Preferences in Mojave 10.14.1

I was running a calibration of one of my 27" iMac displays this evening using a Spyder 5+ calibration tool when I noticed that the Display Menu under System Preferences on my Macs have a checkbox for "Automatically adjust brightness". Should that box be checked or unchecked when I am using the Spyder's automatic screen brightness adjustment feature? One of my iMacs is a Mid-2010 running High Sierra 10.13.6 OS and the other is a month old 2017 with Mojave 10.14.1 OS. Please do not answer if you are guessing and are not sure that your answer is factually correct. Thank you.

Really got me thinking - I've being using the Spyder system for years - on my Mac Mini it's not an issue because it doesn't have an integral display, and therefore, no integral sensor. On the other hand my MacBook Pro is a different story - it never occurred to me to uncheck that selection - the whole idea of Soyder is to create consistency of display. Therefore, it would make sense not to have the Mac adjust the brightness...some of the findings of a search suggest that the Mac auto brightness not be enabled. Have you checked with the Spyder folks?

Not yet. I just notice the checkbox this evening and there is no point in phoning them until tomorrow.
