Fall drive from Dallas to Durham, N.C.
Friday, I start a drive to Durham, N.C. from Dallas taking the northern route. First night and following day, Hot Springs, Ark. Then, probably Nashville. Taking my Nikon D5300 with Nikkor 18-300DX F/3.5-6.3 and my 11-18 mm Tokina F/2.8. Today, I bought a Nikkor 200-500mm F/5.6 and a new carbon fiber tripod to try out. I thought I would stop in Washington, Ark. for some photos. Any other suggestions of photo locations along the way?
Maybe you should have put Washington, Ark in the title. Just a thought.

I lived in Memphis for 3 years and made that drive many times. My favorite part of that drive is from Knoxville to Kingsport but then we usually head north on into PA. If you are looking for landscapes, the mountains are beautiful in that area but there probably won't be a lot of color this late in the season. There is not a lot between Memphis and Nashville close off the highway but if you can I would suggest taking Hwy 70 instead of the interstate. It will take you a little longer but you will go through some beautiful country and a lot of little small towns with photo ops. The same driving from Nashville to Knoxville. Safe travels to you!
