Invest in a manual off camera flash set up. Shoot your camera in manual. Practice, practice, practice. Learn, learn, learn. I think the starting point for correctly lighting your photos would have been 1/125 @ f/5.6 with your off camera flash @ 1/2 power. You could then increase the shutter speed to increase the contrast in the sky. Just my opinion.

I tried a little but I don't think, with the back light behind her the way it is, there's much hope of making it look much better. Sorry.
