I know this is an ongoing question, but I want the latest and greatest suggestions.

Shooting with a Nikon D5100. I want to add a wide angle lens to my bag.

What say you?

Thanks

Do you have a budget in mind? Zoom or prime lens?

Budget, well I don't want to pay off the National debt...LOL

Not sure on the prime or zoom issue, but leaning towards prime. Hope hear benefits for either.

Currently I have the following:

Nikon 60mm AFS 1:2G ED Micro Prime (which I really like)
Nikon 55-200mm AFS 1:4G ED
Nikon 18-55mm AF-s 1:3.5G
Nikon 50mm 1:1.8 D
Sigma 150-500mm

Oh btw Jerry, I always have a Nissan Cube...just love the litter critter.

Looks like you are doing pretty good with what you have. The 18-55mm is a very good wide angle lens. If you want an ultrawide there are several choices out there starting at 8mm zooms. The 10-20mm Sigma (at $479) and the 11-16mm Tokina (at $699) are pretty good choices for the crop sensor bodies.

I have the nikor 10 to 24 mm zoom f3.5-45 have taken some great photos with it. Looks like this would give you coverage from 10mm to 500 mm with your lens collection

How did you know I had a Cube? Did you recognize it?

I got a Rokinon 8mm fisheye that is interesting to play with. It cost $312 delivered. It sells under different brand names. The Tokina 11-16mm is nice, too. They have their nerve calling it a zoom lens. It zooms all of 5mm! :D

Several people have asked what kind of truck I am sitting in, so I send them a picture.

Ok, now no one can laugh at this. I bought a Bower AF 0.42x58mm Macro/Fish Eye lens off Ebay, paid a whopping 45.00 in the door. Acutally takes some decent photos for the price. I just have fun with it taking pictures of my dogs....

My dogs are so used to having their pictures taken that it doesn't bother them at all.

I love wide angle dog pics. My dog now thinks only with his belly since he nolonger has the other bits that males prodominatley think with. He sees everything as food and whenever i get down to his level he just can't resist having a lick of my lens.
