You can have the dirtiest job and still shine...
I am posting this one here because I have a doubt. Why is the right wall out of focus ?
I love the (almost) parallel lines.
No PP, just saved on DPP4 (JPEG and TIFF).
Thanks. Had to use the washroom and that was there.
I am wondering why the wall on the right is not on focus.
My camera is set to focus at the middle point.
Thank you. Yes, that is my lens.
I took the camera and estimated aperture and shutter speed based on:
- ISO 100 (default on my eos most of the time)
- Sun coming in through the small window.
I guessed 1/160 @ f/3.2 and entered the washroom again, closed the door
and took the shot from the opposite corner, around 1.3 m (~ 4.25 feet ?)
in front of the lens.
That one was the first photo.
Then I tried other apertures (wider) to try overexposure to manipulate.
I could not give smaller apertures because I would need a tripod and
my tripods would never fit that space. It is just a washroom, not a bathroom.
I do not want to crop the photo and miss those parallels...
Probably the problem is more to DOF.

At 4 feet distance, your depth of field with f/3.2 is only a few inches. Take a look at the calculator I linked.

I have tried it before. The link was posted a few times and even last week, IIRC.
I think it is a very good algorithm, but not always at hand.
I see that the left hand part of the photo is sharp and it looks like I had the focus
set at the "douche" (what is the term in English ? Mind block...).
I will post another topic with the same lens at f/5.6 and 1/500.

You could have used smaller apertures if you increased the ISO and/or slowed the shutter speed down to 1/60 in proper amounts. With a 50mm lens you should be able to hand hold that speed. I would think an ISO 0f 800 would give acceptable results. Depth of field is the issue and small apertures are best to increase DOF.

Very true, especially for those few of us left on the planet (myself) who don't have a smart phone
As PHRubin suggests, you could easily go to a higher ISO so that you could use a smaller aperture.
But this experience will help you remember in future to try more than one aperture and ISO combination - if the subject is cooperative
Not sure what English word relating to focus you're thinking of with "douche." Even Google translate wasn't helpful.

Oh, yes, I could. And thank you so much for your input.
That is my fault indeed to have being challenging myself
to get the best out of the lowest ISO my camera allows.
I used to shot 100, 200 and 400 in film and I am still
trying to transfer that to digital. I have my camera for
less than one year. Soon I will be experimenting farther.

The term is a hand managed shower that replaces a bidet, which I have in my bathroom.
I will always remember the lessons I get here. And for that I thanks you all (no exceptions)
very much.

Yes, I knew that. It was your reference to camera
focus that confused me:
it looks like I had the focus set at the "douche"

These would not work with an ISO of 100. In fact, going to a shutter speed of 1/500 would require a WIDER aperture to maintain the same exposure. You may need to read up on understanding exposure.

I would say it's a combination of large aperture and a different distance from the camera.
