Late for Veterans Day but felt it may be fitting for the memories of their sacrifice to our country.

Feel free to download this photo to your computer. You can edit the photo any way you want. Composites, alterations, color shifts, black and white conversion are all fine. Post your edit in this thread by Thursday at 9 pm. No edits will be accepted after 9 pm on Thursday.

Took the image into PS Express and did the enhance pre-set and a number of other pre-sets and got a tad more detail and extra color, but nothing spectacular and worth sharing. Sigh.

Our efforts are a learning experience. I appreciate your effort. Perhaps I should have posted a better image of it. However, I wanted to see what improvement or changes could be made on it.

For some reason my color cast is off when I post to UHH but the download is fine. Please view in download. I really struggled with the original and the dynamic range. As Linda From Maine says it was above my pay grade trying to fixing it using conventional means in Lightroom so I went another direction.

I don't think a 'better' starter image is the issue. What PS Express pre-sets show is 'hidden' digital detail in highlights and dark areas. The detail is either there or absent and cannot be invented in less than a full image editor application, like Phoshop, but when one does that it is no longer image enhancement but is artistic expression wherein an additional message is intended.

I like the image. Seems b/w is a logical way to go. I don't start with a plan. More like hearing cats. I experiment in ways I wouldn't otherwise think of with these MIYV exercises. Its a good learning opportunity, so even when the results are not so good, quite a lot can be gained. There are tools I am discovering for the first time in photoshop.

I like the concept you had in mind. I feel the buildings should have been more war-torn to blend in with the concept.

Due to the lack of color present in the posted photo, black and white is a good way to have handled the problem.

I believe an artistic expression would be acceptable in enhancing the subject matter. If you wish to try it I would like to see how it turns out.

The sepia tone gives the uniform a more natural appearance. Thanks for participating.

Here is my edit. Everything was done in Photoshop using many, many layers and several blended textures. Type looks better on download,
