Well getting to learn my new camera. I tried to open a few pictures by hooking my camera directly to my Mac. I couldn't find the pictures so I could transfer them to my external hard drive. They did download to iPhotos but no pictures just question marks in place of pictures. I don't have the right card reader which I will get tomorow.
Any help would be appreciated.
XT-3 is very new and it may be that Apple has not yet updated its software to read the XT3 images. I understand Adobe hasn’t either. Yet. Be patient, they will.
Latest Lightroom opens XT-3 raws no problems
Try taking picture s with the X-t3 as jpg files and see if Your Mac opens them
You must have gotten software with the camera. Can you run that on your Mac?
As others have said, the latest LR will open the XT-3 RAW files as will Adobe Camera Raw. You can also use Iridient Transformer to convert the RAW files into DNG which Mac Photos should recognize. The best solution might be Capture One Express for Fuji. It’s free but there’s a learning curve. Otherwise shoot jpgs using the wonderful Fuji film simulations. Your Mac Photos program will recognize them. I’d highly recommend getting Dan Baily’s Book, “X Series Unlimited.” He’ll send you a PDF of the very latest features of the XT-3. Enjoy learning about your XT-3. It’s an amazing camera.
I use Luminar 2018 on my Mac and it opens my X-T3 RAW files just fine. FujiFilm has a RAW software converter on its' web site and it is free. Called RAW FILE CONVERTER EX 3.0 powered by SILKYPIX, it will allow you to save in jpg or tif. Plus it has tons of editing options built in. Enjoy.
did you format the card in the camera? If not you will have problems viewing...

Do you keep your Mac OS updated? Apple adds new camera profiles at least quarterly. But you must be running a recent system (10.12 to 10.14) to get the updates.

SILKYPIX is great. Panasonic bundles it, too. It’s a great raw converter.

If by updates, you mean running Mojave, that could be a problem because not all Macs can run Mojavi.

Yes, this is a very good point! In fact, I couldn't upgrade my very capable 2009 MacBook Pro beyond El Capitan (10.11.6) because Apple considers it "obsolete" even after I upgraded its internal HD to an SSD and increased its RAM to 8 GB. Very frustrating because it seems to work so well for me. And because of that I can't upgrade LR to its latest version to read my XT-3 files. So, I'm using Iridient Transformer and also started to learn Capture One on my laptop. Both work perfectly fine on El Capitan. My desktop Mac runs Sierra, so no problem with LR upgrade. No wonder some of us feel there's a conspiracy to get us to buy new, new new.

As has already been mentioned iPhotos is not compatible with Fuji RAW files which is ridiculous since Fuji RAW has been around for a long time. Works fine with jpeg.

No. Just updating whenever Apple issues a patch or a point upgrade. They keep at least the previous system updated.

No software and no cables
