A building on top of a building

I spotted this unusual combination in west Houston a few days ago. The main building is an office tower, and the one on top is a separate building unto itself. I'm told that it is referred to by the locals as either the "crown" or the "space ship". In either case, it looks to me like someone was trying to make an architectural statement. And from all appearances, it seems they succeeded. Canon 7D with Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5 plus polarizer.
