Here is a photo of my "Poor-man's" remote dslr mount. So far it only has cost about $60.00 and time to modify and reverse engineer things.

Can you describe/list the components.

Basically there is only two things. 1) A Meade motor power telescope that I picked up locally for $20.00 USD. Most seem to be going for around $50-$80 bucks. (I lucked out price wise but did have to fix some things.) 2) A "Z" camera mount. Less than $10 bucks. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Z-Type-Camera-DSLR-Folding-Tripod-Flex-Pan-Tilt-Ball-Head-Desk-Holder-Mount-BK/142769276500?hash=item213db64654:g:~r0AAOSwuvla3qxV:rk:28:pf:0

I had to fix a few things the previous owner "didn't tell me about so add $5 to $10 for epoxy and glues etc. Then add about $20-$30 for longer extension wire and connectors. (Your time is considered free.)

Remove the telescope. Remove the scope mount bracket. Drill holes in the bottom of the "Z" mount. Screw it on where the scope mount came from. Your done.

To make it more a remote unit, I added a longer battery hook-up wire and plan to add an extension wire for the controller.

It's not super quiet but I figure most local animals will get used to the noise real fast. One other thing is that after a calibration, I can go back to finding the stars and moon while remaining in my warm car or house. Plus I have a cheap telescope.

One other thing is that my Pentax has WIFI abilities. Many other cameras come with WIFI also. So I just run the built in program to operate my camera and operate the scope controller to point it where I want. I suppose if one doesn't have WIFI they could us a tethering system and the scope controller also.

Will it be mounted on that tripod? A bear will knock it over in a heartbeat, and it'll be hard to camouflage.
