I am considering a 32-34' 4k monitor for photo editing (LR).

Question...what is best for photo editing...a FLAT Screen...or a CURVED Screen?

Thank in advance for your thoughts.

A flat screen is better for photo editing. A curved monitor will present some distortion because of the curvature. Consider, for example, an image in which you may need or wish to transform an image to correct for tilt, angular distortion, etc. The curvature of the monitor will mislead you, in my opinion, into seeing the image as corrected when it is not.

Negative. The purpose of the curvature is to reduce glare and present the viewer with a cleaner image - in my experience (have you actually used a curved monitor or is your opinion based on conjecture?) there is no impact on the actual image's apparent distortion.

That said, whether it makes a big enough difference to justify the cost differential may depend more on the rom in which you plan to use it - for instance, would glare be an issue based on the location of lights and windows?

TV's make poor displays for photo editing. Curved or flat, it doesn't matter. They process signals differently to enhance the signal. If you are asking about video editing, it would make perfect sense.

My opinion: Curved is a sales/marketing gimmick.

Reports I read on curved screens when I was researching my latest TV purchase earlier this year indicated that the enhanced viewing provided doesn't become apparent until you get over 55".

I thought they make curved monitor too! The OP didn't say anything about TV.

Monitor, TV, (display device) the question is regarding flat vs. curved.

I don't see where the OP talks about a TV. He asked about monitors.

I use the Dell Ultrasharp 32" 4K monitor - awesome color corrected (but can obviously be tuned for whatever color profile you choose) 4K monitor for about $1200-1300 - It is a flat monitor. I did look at curved monitors but they seem to have their biggest feature (gimmick) being curved - not actual monitor performance. YMMV

I response to Gene post. He said using TV is bad idea but the OP only talked about curved vs flat and I guess Gene assumed that a curved screen must be a TV.

But in my opinion I wouldn't use a curved screen for either monitor or TV. In my opinion the real reason that they introduced the curved screen because they can. Curved screens have been used in movies theater before and yes they do improve the viewing experience but only with certain movies not for all.
Why do you want to see an image on a curved screen when it's captured on a flat sensor?
