What accessories are useful and are there any that can not be lived without. I have never used a tripod before and do not know what else helps to make the tripod more useful. I will be using with a Pentax k-3. (cable/elec release??)

Cable or wireless release is needed. 4 way focusing rail if doing macro especially. I have a bag to carry mine in with a shoulder strap so I can easily carry the tripod more places than I would otherwise.

That tripod has been discontinued and sells used at B&H for around $100.00. Benro is a good company. I own a Benro tripod and I am very happy with it.

This is kind of a lighter duty tripod, that has been discontinued by Benro.
I would focus on maybe getting a better tripod, perhaps their carbon version, or maybe something else - if you intend on doing macro or use long lenses. Macro rails, nodal rails etc are not cheap and will be a disappointment on a less than stable tripod. Macro in particular demands rock-solid support.
If you are interested in panorama, don't waste money on a nodal rail unless you are shooting subjects at close distances, where foreground elements obscure some of the background - like a city street view with lamposts, signs, traffic signals, and other street stuff.
If you are doing scenic panoramas, you need nothing other than a level on your tripod and another on your camera (or tripod head). These panos were done without any special gear, other than a Feisol CT-3472 tripod and an Arca-Swiss Z1 ball head.
Hell, if the light is good, you don't even need a tripod for a pano - as in the last shot. Besides, a simple nodal rail won't help you with vertical panos - the first image is a 15 shot (5 columns, 3 rows) pano. I just used my ball head for it, taking care to properly overlap my individual shots.
