I just joined at this forum Splash group and probably going to unjoin pretty quick if it is turning out to be a political forum instead of a photography forum. Whiskey Tango foxtrot Oscar?

Some days you have to work hard to find the heart of the forum. However, complaining only adds to the negativity. Post some inspiring photos, or a stimulating, thought-provoking discussion topic, eh? Otherwise, you're just part of the s.o.s.

Welcome to UHH.

Politics discussions are supposed go to the Chit Chat section or the Attic section of the site. People well know the rules, but they continue to push the boundaries and they try to find creative ways to inject politics into everything.

I hope you will stay.

I dont think politics has anything to do with, we are discussing a gentlemens fears and they are waranted. I lived in the Bronx, cant get much worse than the parks there. I am 77 going on 78 and a fall last year has crippled me, but i still take walks in the park wiyh my Leicas, which are quite valuable. I have been confronted twice, i think i mentioned my female Pitt took a 12" kitchen knife from a would be attacker and a month before a group of blacks approached me looking for a match, heard that before, this time i was walking my Ridgeback, she weighed about 125. When she heard them, she was on otherside of a barricade, she leaped over and confronted them, 5 in all, turned tale and ran for their lives. These boys were caught doing home invasions in the area. I always feel safe with my dogs. My Bandogg being the most protevtive, breed for that, he doesnt let any unknown get within 3 ft of me. Id rather explain a dog bite than a kill. I too was in Nam, Military Police, did my share of killing but havent used my 1911 since i came home. My shooting skills were deemed expert by the military, my training came from a retired OSS armaments expert, he taught me too shoot down the barrel, no sights and center of vision with a pistol, still rather have my dogs.

Don't be ridiculous. All I did did was state the problem and reassure a new member that there are some here concerned about the problem. I did not have to look far before I found this:

"Are you aware of the saying that, 'a liberal is just a conservative who hasn't been mugged yet?'"

PatMan1. I completely understand your situation and respect your choices. I live in Arizona and when I go out in the wild there are more than robbers and evil people that await me. I carry because I can and if I need it, it is there. Hopefully I will never have to use a weapon including firearms to defend myself, my property or those that are in serious Jeopardy of evil people.

A Bandog is a type of dog (Bulldog/Mastiff) not a breed. I assume you have your three intimidating dogs trained to attack on command and release on command? Did the Pitt grab the attacker's arm; how did she get the knife?

I look at this forums title and it says photography. If it's not about photography and everybody has to express a political or ideological opinion, then what happened to all of the photography that this forum is supposed to promote?

I am very glad to hear your thoughts on this. I hope you will stay and help us turn things around.

If you have a dog that will protect you, then what is the difference between the dog and a weapon? One is organic and the other isn't.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I really do appreciate the thought, time, and effort you spend in answering my questions. It is very warming to be part of this community wherein members share so freely, and are willing to actually do something to help me. UHH members, you are terrific!

Really quite amazing, she sensed something wrong, he had the knife behind his back, she leaped and grabbed his arm forcing him to drop it. He was a large man and when i saw the knife it scared the hell out of me, i was really worried cause if he got passed her my male would have ripped him apart.

I've stayed out of this, but I can't resist the challenge. I am a liberal, who's been mugged.

I'm still a liberal.

I lived in Asia for many years, hiked the Himalaya Mountains, went everywhere. No problems.

I presently carry a 1911. Never needed it.
