Just be aware of copyright restrictions.

So true. You can't just use anyone's music and replay it on a slide show. That is the same thing as someone downloading your photo from your website and using it without your permission.

Also, if you put your shows on you tube with that music they are liable to be denied because of copyright infringement. You can find tons of music that is royalty free or usually just credit the musician, by doing a google search.

www.mp3illion.com is a site for purchasing digital files (mp3) for $.09 a track and around $1.00 per album. Huge selection!! I have used Andre Segovia tracks for landscape videos.
I've attached one.

Looking for some suggestions for instrumental or artists for sound tracks to put to landscape slide shows. What factors make for a good accompaniment?
My musical tastes are pretty well limited to Van Morrison and hits of the 60's and 70's. Looking for something a bit more contemporary but easy listening.

I use Pro Show to create my pjoto shows, it’s at photodex.com for trial version and lots of samples. It has a ton of music that comes with the program. For my Utah canyons shows, I used Native American flute music tracks that we already have.

Youtube has a type-of-music categorized section where you can buy rights to use various artists' music. Owned by Google, they own the rights to a LOT of music and monitor what people use if they try to produce their slideshows on Youtube and will reject publishing it if you use anything they own the copyright to. Rates are reasonable and you'll likely find a bigger selection there than about anywhere else. If you're only going to use it for your personal enjoyment, don't have any conscience pangs about it, you can use anything you can figure out how to rip from a cd which some versions of Windows Media Player will do.

Of course you can Google royalty free music and wad through all the results but my findings are that most of the in-house band music is pretty hokey.

Check music from "The Beloved". First encountered their music watching a ski/snowboard video. It's very pleasant.

I agree with this. Native American Pan Flute is what I use a lot, especially with National Park Shows. It is what I listen to also when driving around National Parks.

Did you know Van Morrison plays the saxophone? So he's OK in my book. I've thought about doing a slide show for a long time but I'm too lazy and nobody would watch it but me. With that said, I looked at my ipod with over 4000 tunes on it and wondered what I would use for such an endeavor. I settled on a group you've likely never heard of; Chateau Beach with Rus Kunkel. Rus used to be the drummer for James Taylor and Carol King in the 70's. He does instrumental versions of some of their big hits. I think his work would make good background music for a landscape themed slideshow.

Are these slide shows for personal use only? If you're showing them in public, even for free, you need to be concerned about violating copyrights unless you get permission from owners.
