Just wondering if anyone can shed some light as to why you can purchase a new camera on Ebay at quite a substantial savings compared to sellers on Amazon ? There has got to be some kind of catch
Most probably a non USA warranty, but could also be a scam.

Could be used or gray market with no US warranty. Buyer beware is the old saying.
Apples to apples, (new USA to new USA) I personally have never seen a huge price difference. Would make me wary if there was.
Does not mean you cannot get a good deal, but check seller carefully.

I would consider 1150 at Adorama to 850 on Ebay a pretty substantial price difference.
Compare the “what’s in the box” info for a new camera at, say, B&H or Adorama with the same info for the eBay listing.

As others say gray market, no USA warranty. Also a stripped out box with no battery, charger or neck strap and you buy those separately for 10 times the cost and in the end you pay far more for that good deal with no USA warranty.
How about a link so we can see what you are talking about?

Given that these are Halloween deals, are you familiar with the phrase, “Trick or Treat”?

If it says “store warranty” it most likely means it is gray market, if repairs are needed, Nikon USA will not touch it.
Buyer beware.
International model - ergo no USA warranty, store warranty.

No warranty. This is not an official import but gray market. Nikon according to other threads will not service this camera even if you offer to pay for the repair.
Even the "Original Packaging" note the way it is written seems suspect and you have no idea what market the camera is for and what is in "Original Packaging" for the intended market? Chances are the other market does not include batteries, charger and strap even though it says "Original" Just not USA original.
'New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See the seller's listing for full details.
You go for it as I really don't care one way or the other as it is not my money or risk."
But I would not go near this with a 10 foot pole as the saying goes.

The ad actually says
International Model so its a grey market camera and Nikon in the USA will not repair it, even for a fee, unless their policy has changed.
