I'm pretty old, but this has been happening every year I remember. The start of Christmas decorations has gotten pushed earlier all the time to the point where I don't know whether they're getting ready for this Christmas or Christmas 2019 (et. seq.).
Of course at my age, "every year I remember" represents a shorter period every year.
