Nikon D60 Shutter problem

I have a Nikon D60 and love it. I purchased another D60 from Ebay in order to have a 2nd camera available as a knockaround camera. It was listed as having a shutter error. I had read on line about people fixing D60's w/this error. I take my lumps for trying to come up w/a cheap camera. But my real question is "has anyone ever really permanetly fixed a D60 w/the fix listed on the internet? Has anyone tried to replace the shutter w/a new one? I haven't decided if I want to spend the cost estimate for a repair shop fix. I have a tech background. I bought the repair manual. If I can buy the right part I think I might be able to replace the shutter, but I am not sure at this point it what I order would be the right part. I do now really believe the internet fix has a very low success rate.

nikon limits the sale of its parts to authorized and certified nikon repair centers only. Go to keh.com they sell and repair used cameras. they will give you an online ballpark estimate. One of the reasons I never buy from ebay, you never know what you are getting.

I wondered about the parts. I already have a KEH quote. It's fair, just don't know if I want to spend the money. Yeah Ebay is a real gamble. I never do it w/o being willing to lose it all.

I have made hundreds of purchases, large and small on eBay; have rarely been disappointed and have always been refunded. You do have to know what you are buying and what it is worth. The eBay administration is strict with its sellers and keeps them in line.

As I said, I never buy from Ebay unless I am willing to lose what I put in. That said I have had both good and bad purchases from Ebay. Ebay did help to resolve any problems and if I wasn't satisfied it was my fault. I bought this D60 knowing it had a problem. It wasn't Ebay's fault that the internet info I used to make my decision was'nt as "full" as I had hoped. That is why I ask the original question about others fixing a shutter problem. I don't think the info out there is as complete as maybe we would like it to be.
