I am contemplating putchasing the XT-3 and have questions concerning Lightroom’s ability to properly support it. Has anyone encountered problems with the XT-3 and LR Classic? I’m not sure I'd be willing to purchase a new program to support a new camera. Thanks in advance for help with this.

The latest 2019 versions of Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic CC support the Fujifilm XT-3.
https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.htmlIn the event that an earlier version LR does not support a specific camera, you can usually use Adobe DNG converter to convert the file. OR, you can use whatever software comes with the camera, or can be downloaded from the manufacturer.
Adobe usually supports new cameras within three to six months of their availability in the marketplace.
Adobe Camera Raw is used in Adobe Bridge, Adobe Photoshop, and both Lightroom CC and Lightroom Classic CC. So when you update it, all four programs will use it.

Thanks, I have the latest version of LR and read where it now supports the XT-3. However, I am looking for someone who has actually used it with their XT-3. Functioning properly versus we support it are sometimes contradicting.

What sort of problems are you worried about other than whether Lightroom supports it? What bad experiences have you personally had previously that is making you skittish? The biggest issue with the X-T3 is its lack of 5-axis in-body stabilization.

It either works, or does not. If you have the latest ACR, and compatible software (current Bridge, Photoshop, Lr CC, Lr Classic CC 2019), it works.
It's not like Canon's situation where ACR didn't support Dual Pixel raw files with their 5D Mark IV.
If there were exceptions, they would be footnoted in the chart I linked above.

Most raw converters do not play well with Xtrans sensors - except for SilkyPix. The other guys are working hard to fully support these cameras, but they aren't quite ready for prime time. LR 2019 still isn't there yet. Capture One is pretty good, but also not there yet.

That’s what I was worried about. Not sure what kind of problems LR is having with Xtrans sensors.
I have LR Classic CC and have used it on RAW files with Fuji cameras that have X-Trans sensors. No problems experienced here. Have also used On1 Photo Raw 2018 - again no problems.

Exactly what I was looking for, user experience. Thank you
Al, you must have missed my post to you.
It is a well known fact that Iridient plays best with Fuji files.

just saw it. I hate to add an additional step. Does it convert the raw to something else?

If you want the best result, it is a small price to pay. At least try it.

Right! Whatever you buy, you will have a way to process raw files. I would never put off buying a camera because the program I'm using can't process the files. There is always a way.
