These are the larvae of the sphinx moth. They have a voracious appetite. Two or three of them can eat up a tomato plant in a little over a day. We always called them a tomato worm. There are two main versions. One has a black 'horn' projection on the tail and the other has a red one. I don't remember which is which, but one is actually a tobacco worm and the other tomato worm. The color of the horn is the only difference I know of. Neither is exclusive about what they eat. Tomato, tobacco or whatever. There is no advantage in letting them live. They will destroy whatever they are inhabiting. They are NOT an endangered species.

Hard to be certain with these images but it could be either a Tomato or a Tobacco Hornworm caterpillar. They look very similar but there are ways to tell... See this link....

Where to post can be tricky. Is it a "photograph," or is it a picture used to demonstrate something? Sometimes, too many categories can be counterproductive

Perhaps you have a neighbor who likes wildlife. A surprise, midnight delivery might be appreciated.

Nooo, this is actually the non photography section. And those are Tomato Horned Caterpillars. They will strip a tomato plant, and wont touch your roses.

And the wasp on the head of the lower one is a Parasitic Wasp. It will lay eggs on the caterpillar on stalks. When they hatch, they crawl into the cat and eat it from the inside out. If you see them, let the cat live as it produces more wasps.

If you do a double download, you will see that that is not a wasp but what looks to be a common green bottle fly on that one caterpillar...

I looked up pictures of both and don't think it is either. So, don't know what it is at this point. The Bracinoid Wasp has many variants, but did not see one with the red eyes.

It seems that the question was and remains how do you get rid of them! The answer to which I do not know, but I would call the local university and as the entomologist!

Tomato Hornworm. And they become large but can be easily picked and stepped on. Go out at night with a flashlight and they are iridescent. Pluck and stomp. Most insect are plant selective but also have fall back plants. Love pepper plants also but prefer tomatoes. No need to spray just shine, pick and stomp.
