Candid nudes

When I shoot nudes and have built up a rapport with the model I ask the model if it's OK to take some candid shots of her, I find catching the model relaxing, resting having a cup of tea or whatever she's doing when not posing can make some interesting photographs and tells you a bit more about the model. Does anyone else like candid shots?

For me it was developing a rapport with the model. Rapport builds trust and 2 way communication.Welcome to the forum.

You're right, rapport is essential and then comes trust, once trust is established then the model's personality starts to come through.

Nothing wrong with that, but, it is difficult to control the lighting, etc., in shooting candids.

Candid shots can appear more natural and real then posed shots and more tolerance applied in judging them...

I often go to group shoots with several models and several photographers, with the photogs moving between the set-ups as the models change outfit or background. This often leaves one model deserted by everyone (perhaps as a new scene is set up everyone rushes over to shoot it). So, I have a rule -- never ignore a naked woman, so I'll move over to the abandoned setup. By this time, the model has "broken character" has has moved into a more reflex position.

This one, i think, was during a break to change the lighting.

Nice photo, I like the composition and how the models have been captured at rest. It is good to think outside the box, and capturing models when they are not posing does show more of the person and makes interesting photographs.Do you have any others you could share?

I do, but they aren't categorized so I'd have to go through the collection to pick them out. I'll see what I can dig up.

Good question. I find my results are usually not that good comparatively.
