Cheers Bear and thanks fo looking in i appreciate it very much.Glad you liked them.I found the following history about the viaduct and carr mill dam.Hope it helps.
Carr Mill Dam and Nineteen Arches Bridge
As well as a footpath, part of the bridge contains the main water pipeline to carry water supplies from Rivington Reservoir to Prescot Reservoir.
Carr Mill Dam
Carr Mill Dam is situated just off the A580 East Lancashire road, near to Billinge to the north of St Helens town centre.
Once simply a small mill pond built to power Carr’s Mill, Carr Mill Dam is now the largest inland body of water on Merseyside having been hugely expanded in the 1750s to provide a large reservoir to hold water for the Sankey Navigation, (Sankey Canal), about a mile away. It was further enlarged by the London and North Western Railway during development of the railway system.
The name Carr Mill traditionally came from the Norse word 'Carr' meaning marsh or fen. The dam is shown on the 17th century Yates map. A corn mill was operating there in the 19th century as it is visible on the first Ordnance survey map of the area, the dam having been doubled in size. There is no record of anyone named Carr having a mill there.
Carr Mill Dam is used both by St.Helens Angling Association and the Lancashire Powerboat Racing Club, who both hold competitions on the water,
