I am a boater and fisherman and I have a couple of waterproof camping bags in my boat that I keep warm cloths in but I want something better for my camera. I have been researching waterproof CAMERA bags and have come up with a bag with the brand name "Watershed".
They have a few models and the one I’m interested in is the "Ocoee" model. I can just drop my small 8” x 8” x 12”
canvas camera bag inside the waterproof bag and zip it up; simple and easy.
The Watershed brand bags are made in the USA and are guaranteed waterproof but the Ocoee model is over $100.
Have any of you had any experience with this brand of waterproof cameras bags? Have any of you found a better bag than the Watershed for less money? Thank You, Jeff

Well I don’t have a lower cost alternative to suggest, but your reference to ‘Watershed’ products caught my attention. I enjoy kayaking, fly fishing, and running the nearby Rogue River. In viewing the ‘Watershed’ site I found the Aleutian Deck bag that will fit my needs so I ordered two. I think the price was reasonable. You might check Amazon for dribags priced within your budget.

I don't have any experience with this brand, but I'm very confident with using a similar product (ewa marine). I have used those bags quite intensively over quite a long period of time and I never had any issues! I used a $7000,00 outfit inside these cheap bags and they just performed! Like I said, I do not have any experience with your brand of bags, but if they are in the same ballpark, I think you'll do just fine!

I don't have experience with the Watershed bags. I just read about them and they seem like they would be very useful for camera gear. The closest thing I have are Lowepro's camera bags. Their AW (all weather) bags have a rain cover that can be pulled out of a zippered pouch and pulled over the bag. It's not going to be as waterproof as the Watershed bags but it would be better for holding your camera gear as they have dividers and a padded bottom. Check out their Nova and Magnum shoulder bags.

I use a ammo box $12 with a little padding in the bottom I can fit my 7D2 with a 100-400 inside (without hood attached) ,watertight, floats and easy access should that Loon or Eagle drop by. It also lashes to a kayak easy enough through the handle but I would suggest practice taking it out and putting it back in with the handle lashed to the boat on dry land .If you have a shoulder or wrist strap attached be careful that you don't have it sticking out ,that would ruin the seal

Over $100 for a bag that small. How about using a cooler, either hard or soft?

Thank you all for your advice. Like I said, I will use my camera bag, with dividers and padding of course, and drop it into a waterproof bag of similar size.

For years, I had an ammo box full of 30 cal ammo from my father. It must have been over fifty years old. I didn't even want to open the box. I gave it to a local gun shop.

I agree with the ammo box; I have used one for years without any problems. If you do get an ammo box, be sure to test it to verify it is waterproof.

Hi. I recreationally kayak abd take my camera out with me all the time unless raining as my camera isnt waterproof or if the river is to high. I would recomend checking LL BEAN as I use a drybag which fits my camera and 2 lenses..but I oretty much know what gear I need to take. I believe they also float.

Hi Jeff, the Watershed ocee bag is terrific! I use it to carry camera gear in my kayak.

I will add, if there is any possibility that the camera will get wet, you really want a dry bag and not a "waterproof" bag. I don't do guns, so don't have ammo boxes, though I imagine if it will keep ammo dry, it will keep a camera dry. The Watershed bags are pretty light, which is also a consideration for me.

If I had a $7000 rig, I would want a bag within a bag within a bag.

Three Hefty bags could do the trick too.
