Mayo Clinic in Arizona is having their own Proton Beam therapy treatment facility. Just don't know when it will be open for use but the construction is on-going. My understanding is that all three Mayo Clinic facilities (Rochester, Florida, & Arizona) will have their own Proton Beam facility.

Here in Virginia, they have a facilily in Hampton, Virginia...I was given this information by a friend who has just started treatment with them for a "Prostate Cancer" and he is definitely "sold" on this type of treatment and excited about their known and contemplated (completely being cancer free) results without damage to surrounding tissues.

By theory it sounds like the best way to go. It's time they come up with a new treatment.

My friend had this about 5 years ago at Loma Linda. It was considered an Experimental procedure. Worked for his Prostrate.

another ( and better) way to take care of cancer is to NOT catch it in the first place.

I know, easier said than done, but a more natural diet and proper exercise goes a long way!

Obviously you are not very familier with how Cancer is conceived. Proper diet and exercise has nothing definate to do with preventing Cancer. I'm not coming down on you it's just that that is sort of a flip answer and doesn't really have any bearing on one having Cancer vs one not having Cancer.

Yes, but sometimes, proper diet and exercise is not a guarantee that you'll live a cancer-free life. There are non-modifiable risk factors to be consider also... such as genetics/family history, age, gender and race

This proton beam therapy is just another way of fighting the disease. I cannot even say it is a cure, but it sure is a way to take into consideration when faced with the dilemma.

I will return the compliment back to you my friend, as you obviously are not familiar as to how cancer ( inflamation of a particular organ) is started. As you eat well and find out which foods are beneficial to you and which ones you are allergic to, you will definitely push the odds in your favor and avoid cancer. As with everything else in life, your mileage may vary and there are NO guarantees. But I can assure you, diet has an influence on your health and that includes the odds of getting cancer ( and heart attacks and diabetes, obesity ....etc ),

Absolutely. There is no guarantee in life, but just as wearing a seat belt and riding in a car with many airbags will not assure you of never dying in a car wreck, the odds are simply in your favor.

From the methods explained in the clips the focused beam vs scattered radiation am thinking this new method would be far superior to the older accepted methods of chemo therapy. Be better to forgo the hair loss and the damn constant sickness that goes with radiation.

I'm not saying there is no hair loss, nausea or diarrhea involved here. This treatment is not a one time visit. The radiation is more site specific, depending where the tumor is located. My understanding is that, they "blast" the tumor, then they look at it again and see the shrinkage difference, then do another "blast", and it goes over and over until the the tumor is gone or considered non treat. So, this treatment can go for weeks and months. but the side effects are less all things considered, and less time in the hospital.

No there is no way around the hair loss and sickness but thinking with the blast method it would perhaps be lessend somewhat.
