View from the Fountain

I captured this image a few weeks ago in Germany, in a small town near Munich - one of my favorite spots in the area.
Although the image is undoubtedly very busy, I think it still retains a sense of space, and gives the viewer a glimpse of the beautiful architecture surrounding the fountain.

I think a complete view of the fountain would have served you better. As it is I'm left wondering about the parts that are out of frame, such as the top of the fountain. And as an added benefit we would get more than just a glimpse of the surrounding architecture, which in turn would impart more of a sense of place.

At times less said or seen is better. For me, a "chronic croppoholic ," I would cull the modern buildings at the left.... Crop to the center of the building just to the left of the fountain. Next, bring the bottom up to the line on the base of the boy. This snippet shows the classic fountain art and the architecture of the classic building on the right of the fountain. Less is more.

I sent you a PM with a photo showing my Crop ... post if you wish. d/p

It would be interesting to compare a color photo to this one, to see if my brain can sort out the similarly toned elements more easily. Flat light, lots of midtones and small details - difficult to enjoy.

The composition doesn't work for me because of the missing top of the fountain. Would a vertical orientation have been possible, with the full height of the fountain and inclusion of the buildings on the left side?

I agree with the comments of R.G. and Linda.

The baroque fountain goes perfectly with the baroque architecture on the left. I would probably have included more in the shot; but I can understand what you were trying to do. It is a different take on shooting architecture. I'll be in Germany, Munich, actually next June. Might just have to give your technique a try. Nice post.
