Waterproof cameras (point & shoot type) which one to buy?
What are you using and what are the down faults of the camera?

I have a Canon D10, which is pretty outdated these days. I take it to the pool and on long canoe trips.
What I like: Image quality is excellent. There is an available strap system which allows multiple ways to carry this camera. This may sound like overkill but when you're in the surf, or snapping the kids underwater in the pool or suddenly see an alligator while canoeing, the strap comes in handy. I also like that the glass covering the lens sheds water quickly so you always have a clean shot.
What I don't like: Only 3x optical zoom. This is limited because the lens is behind glass. The afformentioned strap system is exorbitently expensive.

I have the Canon d20 and love the colors and exposures it makes. I used to have a Olympus tough 5000 but did not like the pics it would take. The Olympus required their card to record video and were expensive.
New olympus tough series...TG-1 has an f/2 lens on it.
my old but very tough Olympus Mju 7900 has been reliable & sturdy. It has been dropped many times, drowned many times, (party piece is to set it on delay auto flash and lower into a pint of beer...) exposed to freezing conditions in the Himalayas, and survived the Sahara.. IF it ever fails, i'd replace it immediately with whatever it's update is

Great original self potrait shot, Steve. Would love it even more with some sky added in post processing.
I also have the Canon D10.............only thing I don't like about it no eyepiece viewing (gads, that IS what you call it, isn't it? The technical term escapes me.LOL)...........have to use the screen on the back for viewing the photo you want to take.
Thank you all for your input. I was leaning toward the Nikon AW100. But I am now thinking about the Panasonic TS20 for $99.00.
Any thoughts on this?
Some of the other cameras recommended cost 3 times the Panasonic Lumix TS20. Depends on how much you want to spend on a camera that is used only for wt environments.
I forgot to mention that the camera is an Olympus TG1.
My husband got me this camera for Christmas to use on my paddle board. I couldn't wait until summer to try it, so I have been using it. It has more control than a point and shoot, it takes amazing picutures, has lots of cool settings, and it's really tough. I took these pictures at 27 below 0 fahrenheit this morning. I can't wait to try it in water!!
