Erik, very nice story photos. Do you have any idea as to what that thing is?

It's a cranberry thrasher. It works like your vacuum rug beater bar. The rotary bar on this machine knocks the berries loose, without harm to the plant or berries. and the berries float to the surface to be harvested. Thanks for looking in Bob. vz

Erik, thanks for the explanation. I'd never seen on before, nor did I know that cranberries grew underwater.

Cranberries don't grow underwater but grow in very soggy bogs. The bogs are flooded from time to time, one of those times being for harvest. vz

Are you guys new in the cranberry harvesting job? In Wis. they huge blowers that guide the berries in floating fences. I wasn't being sarcastic about you being new or do you just a have some weak machinery. Working in those bogs are not for the weary.

The floating fences are the next thing to happen after the berries are knocked loose. Thanks for looking Fergus. vz
