Recently I have posted shots concerning the performance of a piece of equipment in the main photo discussion area only to have the thread moved to the gallery. I did not post these pics for the content of the photo, but rather to address the ability of the lens in question. I would think that a lens review with examples would be appropriate for the Main Discussion section, and would get more air time and benefit more members than being in the gallery. I see pics all the time in Main Discussion that address various equipment or techniques that have not been moved. Inquiring minds want to know.

Your inquiring mind might address this with admin.

And arguing with Admin might result in your post being removed!
If a thread starts with an image it will be moved to the gallery.
If a thread starts with a link it will be moved to the links and resources section.
That is when things are working properly.
In those cases you should make your statement or ask your question in the first post, and add the image or link in a second post.

Looking at your last topic, I would say it needed to be worded differently - to encourage discussion rather than be a demo. And also wait to post the photos after someone else has commented. And also...you can send a pm to user ADMIN for clarification.

Guess it was my mistake by including the pics in the first post. Thanks for the info.

Had no intention of arguing with anyone. Just trying to get clear on what was happening. Bill_de gave me the answer I was looking for. Thanks.

Who is Admin? Why do they have this blog? Do they ever use the photos submitted here? They should have an "About" section....

For more info, click on "contact us" "privacy policy" and "terms of use" at the bottom of this page. Admin is the owner of UHH.
You can access his posting history at
https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/user-profile?usernum=2.
This is exactly how I would do it. Talk in the first post and then put your examples in the second. I know it's a pain, but admin probably doesn't have time to read all of them.

Admin is very cut and dry. If there's a photo, it goes to one of the photo galleries. If it's a discussion without illustration, it stays in main photography discussion.
It's a Hedgehog thing.
I have had a couple such lists moved to the gallery. I quit posting those types of questions here and use other forums for such things.

Simple rules:
- No images
- No links
- Subject has to be photo related.
If you pay attention ALL threads with images and links as systematically moved. You just need to pay attention as where the stuff is located when you follow a thread. There is no global notice that a thread has been moved. On the other hand the thread creator does receive an admin generic message that the thread has been moved to the appropriate section.
You can PM the admin. He will not 'kill you' for that unless you start being argumentative.
Who is the admin? REALLY?
For starter one has to consider why this board has been created. Somewhere on UHH there was a blurb about the emu creating this board in order to learn about photography. If you want more info on the admin, do your own research. What has also been published on that subject...
- UHH is registered with a Miami address under a corporation name led by someone whose name sounds like it is from Russia or something - That does not mean the guy is Russian.
- At least two other forums sharing the same design and ownership exist. One is about stitching (if I recall correctly) and one is a political forum (I do not want to even think about that one considering the attic - section that also exists in the stitching forum by the way).
As stated, do your own research.
A big question that makes no sense... Does admin uses the image posted?Think about it for a second. TIME UP.
YES. UHH uses all the images posted and so does every other site.
How else can you share your own stuff?
The real question: Does UHH owner claims ownership of the posted images posted? The answer is NO.
The gallery is for pictures you took. You started the thread with, "not mine".
