spot color
I would like to use a special affect of spot color..black white
print with just one spot of color..please tell me the method or program I need to achieve this.
dont think you can do in lightroom but can do in photoshop
Photoshop Elements is your best bet and will give you the most editing tools for a reasonable price. Photoshop CS5 is what I use but its pricy for the average user and for a novice at photo editing could be overwhelming tho learn. There are very good tutorials online including on YouTube. I attached some examples that I was playing with. Good luck.

Example 2
NIK has some photoshop plugins that are really good also, Color Efex Pro 3, Viveza, and Silver Efex Pro 2 or whatever number is up now..
Watched a Webinar yesterday on a new program coming from Topaz Labs. It is basically a Black and white conversion programs, but does this technique easily. Shockingly easy.
I believe it is being released next week and will have a great discount. They have great software at good prices.
Nix also has good products but a bit more expensive.
Topaz does have some nice software, I think it is them that has a really good focus stacking program..
Thank you all, I'll check them out..
As of yet, no stacking program from Topaz.
Off the top of my head I don't remember who does, as that is not something I teach or use; but google should bring about a long list.
Picasa can do the spot color. The program is free and is easy to use.
photocat..you are correct..it is Helicon Soft that has the focus stacking software..I stand corrected..again..
I have Picasa..and can do some area color...perhaps I just havent learn how to use it completly..
If I want to color just the petals of a flower for instance, I can't get it in detail..
thanks, any advice using Picasa?
no problem.
As a photo educator I try to keep up so i can help my students.
Besides, you found the software, so that is a good thing. :)
Hi GGRAD,
Here is a photo I just edited in Photoshop Elements 9. The edit took about 3 minutes (you can tell I didn't take much time with it). The edit consisted of a Hue/Saturation layer with the color revealed through a mask. When you learn the program that will all make sense to you.
Photoshop Elements is similar to Photoshop CS and has more than enough editing capability for the average user. I bought my copy through Amazon.com for $89 and then there was a $30 mail-in rebate. Considering the capability of the program, it's incredibly inexpensive compared to Photoshop CS5 at $700 for the standard version.
I also use the extended version of Photoshop CS5, which retails for about $1,000.
Actually, this is fairly simple to do in Photoshop using two layers, one black-white and one in color. I did something similar for a shack in a snowstorm, keeping the window which showed the interior in color, and the rest of the scene in black and white. It came out quite nice.
