Went to see Romania (Transylvania) one of the highlight was the castle of Dracula. We were not disappointed the castle was re-done to safety standards and many of the old parts remained as they were. Toured all the rooms and all the floors did not see any one being killed or put on the steak. They have exiting programs for Halloween two or three days reservations are required. and promised that Dracula will appear. His family is alive they own the castle and living in Hungary and Austria

yes he was originally known as "Vlad the Impaler" and, or so I understand, was particularly nasty to his enemies but treated his own people fairly well (given the standards of that time).

Foarte Bine!

In the 1980's (the communist time), I traveled extensively in Romania. It is a culturally very interesting country. In Transylvania the landscape is much like one would find in western North Carolina or West Virginia. The folks in the mountains also distill alcohol. (They use plums). In the east is a plain along with resorts along the Black Sea. The poenari castle in Arges county is even more impressive although a ruin. It is high on a mountain. It was not a tourist site in the 1980 but is now. (http://touristinromania.net/what-to-visit-romania/poenari-castle-fortress-vlad-impaler-incredible-landscape-piece-history-bloody-legend/). It is featured in the movie :Bram Stoker's Dracula and some aspects of the history are correct.

I was not by Draculas' castle, but I lived in (TRIEBSWETTER) Tomnatic in Romanian, No fun with the commjunist regime, they stole our property and killed my Grandfather, the plight of theDonauschwaben is a sad one,
look it up. The first Generation had the need, The second Generation had the Death, and the Third Generation had the bread, which when the communists took over they took!!!!
