Big, Bright, Beautiful Moon over the Midwest USA

I haven't a camera with me but the moon is large and the sky is clear. Not sure how much that changes from location to location but I'm in Ohio, USA. I'd love to see what shots some of you could get with it, if you'd like to.

Unfortunately I live near the Ohio border not far from Ravenna, Ohio. Ravenna is where one of the largest US arsenal's is located. And why did the US government pick Ravenna? After research the US government determined that the whole area around Ravenna had more cloudy days than anywhere else in the US. Why was this important? It was built during WWII and the US government wanted to put the arsenal in a location that was safe from potential German bombing. Clouds were the safest way to prevent accurate bombing.
What I am getting at is we do not get that many opportunities to photograph Full Moons on clear nights around here. When we get one, I can go outside after dark and I can hear the camera shutters going off.

The Moon doesn't really get any bigger. An optical illusion occurs to make it look larger when it is close to the horizon as opposed to being higher in the sky. To prove this take a picture when you think it looks big and compare it with one when you think it looks small (use the same lens/camera combination of course). Photos don't lie.

I took this moon picture last night. The sky was a little hazy. I used my D3400 and the kit 70-300 lens. It was at 300mm and I manually focused. 1/125 sec, f16 ISO 100 I cropped a bunch of the sky out and gave it a little Nik treatment. If you stare at it long enough you can see the flag in the Sea of Tranquility or something. I was late when I did the PP.

So tell me, what kind of image of the moon would you expect to get with a typical cellphone? 😳

Hi,
I took this a couple of days ago to get more shading on the darker edge. Otherwise the light is quite flat during a full moon. I used a Pentax K-3 with a 300mm lens (thank you Sundrencher). I played with NIK and PSE-15 to process it. Hope you like it.
