BIF - duck and GBH formation flying, geese formation landing, ducks in the mist, and FIRST LOOK! at new and improved buzzard

Here are a few BIF from the last few days. Since the temperature has been in the 30's the past few mornings, and the water on the nearby lake is still in the 60's, it makes for some nice mist until it warms up.

The first two with the duck and GBH were pure luck. The GBH took off and I started shooting it, and all of a sudden the duck appeared in the frame, matching the GBH wing speed and position for about 1 second.

The third is of two ducks before the mist burned off.

I will let you decide what to make of the fourth image.

Fifth image is flock of geese landing in the mist.

constructive C&C welcome.

All shot with Olympus EM-1 mkII with 40-150 f/2.8 zoom and 1.4 converter.

I really like the moodiness of the third shot. Of them all, that's my favorite. I'd like to see it with the branches and leaves cropped or cloned out, though not cropped too tightly. Part of what makes it a nice shot is all the negative space.

The shots of the heron and duck flying in tandem are interesting, but...

The first, second and fifth shots... were you shooting through a dirty window or something? The vertical "stripes" bother me.

In #4 it looks like somebody ended up with a dirty beak. All nice shots in my opinion.

I tried cropping out the leaves at the bottom but did not like the dimensions of the image after cropping. Perhaps I will try cloning them out.

The vertical stripes are reflections of trees in the lake. Nothing that I could do to eliminate them.

The probably unintended formation flying of the different species is cool. Probably getting away from you or another perceived threat. Well done. vz
