My title was synonymous with the American Dream but no more.

There’s an old saying, how do you keep B****s out of the country club? Let one in!!!
My title became the rallying freedom cry of America for almost a century.
There was a time when the majority of the immigrants coming from poor countries were white and were welcomed with open arms. And they made America the greatest nation in the world.
Now those countries are flourishing in their own right and there’s no need for those peoples to seek a better life outside their own countries.
The countries in need today are not white and except for the rich and educated from those countries, their citizens are not welcome to seek the American dream.
Instead, today “the poor the tired and the huddled masses”, are vilanized to be murderers, rapists, invading armies, the wreckers of America.
What happened to America’s generosity to be the savior of all willing to work hard for the American Dream???
Has it died with the Tramp regime and his generation of loyal lemmings?
Will America ever shine as a bright beacon of hope in the world again?
Or has Lady Liberties welcoming light gone out forever???

You really need to re-read U.S. immigration history. The folks coming to the U.S. from Europe in the late 19th Century weren't welcome with open arms. The Irish were despised, and the Italians, even though they brought a lot of labor sk**ls such as stone masonry, wrought iron work, etc., were shunned. Both ended up creating "ghettos" in New York City. While the story "Gangs of New York" has a lot of errors in it, it does generally portray the problems Irish had when they immigrated. The Italians and Sicilians were bottled up in the New York City slums, and created fertile ground for the "Black Hand" and mafia to take hold. "The Godfather, Part II", wasn't far removed from the real streets of New York City.

Those that did "escape" from New York, had similar problems in the interior states. They frequently worked in coal mines in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and West Virginia. Even those who had agricultural sk**ls had trouble finding farm work.

The gates to the United States weren't always so generously open as they are today. In fact, immigration to the U.S. was very limited from around 1920, to 1965.

The i*********n l*ws give the President fairly sweeping powers when it comes to admitting aliens. If he decides to close the tap, he's backed up by settled law. And this BS about religious freedom of immigrants is just that, BS. The law is clear, and the President doesn't have to consider religion, or anything else, if he decides to act, the 9th Circus notwithstanding.

The addition of Emma Lazarus' poem to the base of the Statue of Liberty was part of a fund raising effort; U.S. i*********n l*w is written quite the opposite.

I for one have no problem with immigrants coming here to work and try to make a better life. All of our ancestors were immigrants were they not?

Thus my joke, “just let one in”!
I’m not naive to how much immigrants of all colors have suffered.
Too many here want us to think they are scholars. I’ll assume they attended Harvard or the like. Or maybe they attended Google U!!!
Rose you are either the exception among the PUKES or you stoped short of telling us what you really think.
At least you didn’t try to impress me with your knowledge of history! I already know all that and have even lived it.
Then why are so many, “open minded”, people villainizing the caravan from Central America?

People tend to be open minded as long as it's something they agree with.

I lived in California for a little while and I saw a lot of i*****l i*******ts milking the system and being lazy. Not all by any means - most worked as hard as anyone else. Maybe they think of them all as those who would milk the system. Others say let them all in then take advantage of cheap labor and get more v**es.

If you want to know what I really think my opinion is get rid of both parties, give the government an enema and start anew. How, I have absolutely no idea.

Unfortunately nowadays there are people what want to mass k**l Americans. I know there are the home grown ones that are intent on doing that also, but more from outside than inside. I don't know what if any the i*********n l*ws where back then but the people that came over on the boat worked hard to assimilate into the American society. Nowadays there are a lot more that just want the free handouts and s**m the system big time.

Speaking of Immigration. A tourist was going thru china town in San Francisco. He walks bye a Chinees Laundry the sign says Saul Goldberg's world famous Chinees Laundry. He looks in the laundry and sees mugs, tee shirts, and various other items for sale all with Saul Goldberg's world Famous Chinees Laundry written on them. He goes in and there was a little old china man sitting on a stool. He asks the old man if he could speak to the owner. The old man replies that it is he that owns the laundry. The tourists says to the old man Gee you don't look Jewish, how did you get that name? The old man says when coming over and going thru immigration there was an old Jewish man in line right in front of me. The immigration officer as the old Jewish man what his name was, the man replied Saul Goldberg. Then it was my turn and the immigration officer asked me what my name was, I told him my name Sam Ting.

There are more people outside of the US that want Americans dead than inside. While mass shootings were done by citizens the biggest mass k*****g was done by non-citizens but they came here legally with visas did they not? If someone wants to get in and do harm they will find a way to do so.
