Little Johny strike again.

The kindergarten class had a homework assignment to find out something exciting and relate it to the class the next day.

When the time came the teacher called on them one at a time. She was reluctant to call on Little Johnny, knowing he’s often rude.

However, eventually, his turn came.

Little Johnny walked to the front of the classroom and made a small white dot on the blackboard, then sat back down.

The teacher couldn’t figure out what Johnny had in mind for his report so she asked him what it was.

“It’s a period” reported Johnny. “Well I can see that”, she said. “But what is so exciting about that?”

“Darned if I know”, said Johnny, “but this morning my sister missed one, then Daddy had a heart attack, Mommy fainted and the man next door shot himself”.

“Groan” generally means that the joke is so bad that it's funny. If I posted a joke and someone gave it a “groan,” I’d consider it mission accomplished.

I’d give this one a groan with a smiley face attached.

Yes, it's essential to know the jargon of humor.

In High school we concentrated on "groaners". A good groaner was enjoyed as much as a good pun.

Yep! That sounds like some of the jokes I heard in High School

Webster's includes in "groaner" 1: one that groans. 2: a stale or corny joke, observation, or story. All the Synonyms: banality, bromide, chestnut, cleche, commonplace, homily, platitude, shibboleth, trope, truism.
