How do get cotton candy residue off a metallic print?

Seriously - no joke. My son exhibited (an expensive) metal print at the NC State Fair, and someone got cotton candy on the print, which had a buyer. He contacted Bay Photo, who made the print and they suggested Windex or rubbing alcohol, but were not very definite as to whether it would damage the print. Does anyone have any experience in cleaning metal prints? Distilled water still leaves cotton candy residue. Thanks in advance for any tried and proven methods
