I went from a 7000 to a 7200 2 yra ago. Glad I did and absolutely no regrets

Is this a joke? The D7500 is a huge upgrade from the 7000 and 7100. Not quite so much from the 7200, but still an upgrade. Totally different processor, huge buffer, much better picture quality, better low light capability, group auto focus and on and on. Think less expensive D500.

The 7500 is not really an upgrade. It has less features.

No locking mode dial was my biggest problem with the D7000. Kept changing modes when I walked with it at my side. The later models have it.
I used duct tape for awhile. Then moved on to a newer camera when Nikon said it was $300 to fix their mistake.

Go for a D500, it is a much better camera in all aspects

Other than a larger buffer and built in WiFi are there any major performance differences between the D7100 and the D7200 that you know of?

I would make the trade for the buffer alone. That puny 7100 buffer can drive you insane.

I am convinced. I am going to toss my D7200 and get a D500 immediately. What is much better?

Thanks. I will keep that under consideration.
Just to stir the pot a little... How about a D600? They can be found for $600 in good shape on Craigslist. Image quality is equal to or maybe a tad bit better than the D7200. If the D600 recall scares you the D610 is out there for about $800. Nearly identical controls to the D7x00 bodies, larger buffer than any of them (I think), full frame, locking mode dial, same batteries and charger as the D7x00.
I have 2 D7000 bodies and 1 D600 body, for all practical purposes the only thing I notice when I pick up the D600 is it's a bit larger. Controls are the same, zero learning curve - the only gripe, and it's really not been a bother, is the focus sensor is transplanted from the D7000 so it doesn't cover as much of the image area.

The ONLY other thing to notice- might be the results of the OP's DX lens' images on the FX body's sensor.

I did think about that but even in DX mode it’s a heck of s camera. In height speed burst mode it’s something like 100 shots before buffer is full in large/fine mode

NO argument! An *excellent* camera, and excellent food for thought for all paying attention to the OP's original question which was… Quite brief.
Thank you for your thoughtful, salient, pertinent response to the OP's question.

Thank you for your input. Sounds like you have a great system with all 3 cameras that you are very satisfied with. Will definitely keep the D610 in mind. It looks like the D7100’s big brother with D7000 focusing. Ron

Thanks for your input and definite food for thought. I looked it up on the Nikon website. Yes it is an excellent camera.
