Where in the Finger Lakes? There are 5 of them. My aunt and uncle live in Ithaca and I've been to Taughannock Falls, but never heard of this one.

Head North on Rte 89. It's about 42 miles from Taughannock Falls. You'll see a sign for a right turn to Montezuma Natnl Wildlife Refuge. The Montezuma winery is right there at this right turn. The entrance to the visitors center and Wildlife Drive is on the left hand side of the road about maybe 3 or 4 miles from the turn off of 88. The waterfowl migration south is just getting started. If you Google Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge you'll get a lot of info. There is also a Montezuma Audubon Center that has hiking and good birding ops.

OK...about 12 hrs drive closer to me, just North of Springfield, IL is a waterfowl refuge (actually two relatively close to each other, Emiquon and Chautaugua). Went up there early this spring to see Canada Geese, etc, but just my luck, there were about 500x as many just the week prior :/ I hope I can remember Montezuma next time I'm in NY...get there about once every couple years or so.

I hope you get there. Today there were a tremendous amount of Canada Geese and diffeent species of Ducks. By the way, Wikipedia says there 11 Finger Lakes.
