I think each of these questions is conditional. That said, the answers might be right regardless of which choice is made.

Depends on who, what, when, where and how you want to shoot. Tools are just tools. Choose them based on the job at hand.

Get a used Nikon and a used Cannon before you waste your money on what you think is right. Then use them both and decide for your self. That is what they are all saying I had to buy three different cams just like I had three diff. kinds of cars before I knew what was right.
Used falls less in value than new and you might sell the used at the same price you payed for it.
