I've been looking for a drone for a while and like what I'm seeing on the Mavic 2 Pro. I know they are very new - but was wondering if anyone can offer a firsthand review.
Thanks...

Just about everything about this new drone is better than the original Mavic Pro. I ordered one a couple days after they were released and sold my original soon after. It flies faster, further, and isn't bothered by interference as much at the first Mavic. The camera is much better than the original Mavic but there is one thing that it can't do that the original can, and that is it can't take vertical pictures. I wish it could. Also, as of yet, it doesn't have as accurate RTH as the original Mavic. Mine is off by 10 feet sometimes which is kind of weird since I don't know why they couldn't just copy that feature into the firmware to start with. They will probably have a firmware update that will eventually make this more accurate but for now I hit the RTH button and when it gets close to home I cancel and then land it manually. I like that it has a 3 position switch on the side for P, S, and T or tripod mode. Makes it easy to activate. I don't accidentally put it in Sport mode anymore either. I don't like the camera adjustments from the controller either because I have to tap on the iPad to change the proper setting for exposure instead of programming the wheel for a setting I want to change. I don't know, maybe I just haven't figured it out yet so this is still under investigation. It pisses me off that they upped the price of batteries from $119 to $139 so soon after they released this new model. Luckily I got 3 spare batteries at the lower price and hopefully I won't need any more. I think they fudged a little on how long the battery will last. I haven't seen it last any longer than the original Mavic. My friend with his P4P flies 2 or 3 minutes longer than I can almost every time. We both have them set to report when the battery power has 30% power left and then fly home and land.

I don't know what else to say. To sum it up the things that I don't like about it is the battery isn't as good as they say and they are expensive, RTH is not very accurate, and the camera can't shoot vertical and adjusting the exposure isn't easy from the controller wheel. Everything else is better.

Thanks - I appreciate your review. I may wait to see if they have any holiday specials on these.

There are a lot of reviews on YouTube. Have you checked out the Autel EVO? There are a lot of drone enthusiasts who prefer it. It was just released this summer... and it's around $1,000!

I doubt they will have any holiday specials. Remember, they come from China and they don't give a damn about American holidays. About the only time I've seen them discount them was toward the end of the original Mavic just before they released the new Mavic they reduced the price.
