The Palouse is an area of incredibly fertile farmland in central Washington. Below the several feet of farmland is a couple hundred feet of lava flows. When the farmland is eroded, by the river here, you get amazing geologic formations. The farmland originated as finely ground glacial mineral dust from the last ice age. It's a fascinating place.
Very good shots. Heard of the Palouse ; nice to see its interesting features .
