The town I live in has over 3600 business's located within it's boundaries. Busse farm was one of those business's. The Chicago Bears had looked at the site a number of years ago as a possible place to call home. That never happened. Busse farm was the last of the farms in town. My house backed up to another farm in 1972 before it finally sold and condo's went up.
The only reason I was able to get these pictures happened by accident. I was asked by my neighbor Phil across the street to take him to pick up his repaired car. When I dropped him off at the repair center i saw across the street the signs that construction of a new HI-Tech center would be going to be constructed on the old farm. This will be a 1 Billion dollar project. Naturally I grabbed my camera and quickly walked across the street on a gloomy day to shoot the remains of the old buildings. Less than a week after this shoot the farm was leveled.
Some of the trees in later pictures in this series were huge. This whole area was very rich farm land. This town's eastern border abuts Chicago O'hare International airport.
If you want some more background do a google search on "busse woods farm"

The following will be the beginning of my series of this last farm in town.

Yeah, I used to see the back of this house while hunting (Yes! Hunting) at O'Hare. I remember almost everything in Mount Prospect had "Busse" attached to it. Unfortunately, I also remember a water tower and switching tower at the train depot in Arlington heights.

Great photos of the end of the line for a farm that had outlived its useful life. Time for the HI-Tech center to breath new life into the land the farm stood on. Thank you.

Lots of memories,

I would open my back gate and shoot pheasants in the corn field behind me... Send the neighbors dog out to get them... When I moved here I could see city hall from my back porch...
Times sure have changed... Busse woods gets as many visitors every year as Yellostone... Thanks for dropping in.

I don't know how many times I've gone by old buildings, barns, etc. and said to myself .."Got to come back here some day and photograph this" olny to go by again a few weeks later to find the building gone or fallen over. Nice work, Can't replace the images.

Thanks much,

Yes I have to agree with you... That area is a part of town that I rarely drove by as there were closer routes that bypassed the area.
I have been carrying a camera more and more these days just because of things like this...

I appreciate the visit
