a rare cat at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. In the new Asian Highlands Exhibit.
A gorgeous animal Karin - I bet you will be visiting often ! 8-)
A beautiful creature. A shame it's stuck in captivity. I suppose it's better than being poached for its skin.
Nice series, Karin. Too bad it can't roam free somewhere.

Very nice photographs - - I've subscribed to their newsletter - - thanks...
I navigated to their website, wondering about a conservation effort or breeding programs and read that:
One of Asian Highlands’ residents, the Amur leopard, is the most endangered big cat species on Earth with fewer than 100 animals estimated to remain in the wild.https://www.clevelandmetroparks.com/news-press/2018/june-2018/cleveland-metroparks-zoo-celebrates-opening-of-asiThey are quite definite about their conservation work worldwide and, judging by some of the zoo photos of baby animals (rhino calf, etc etc), they must do some endangered species breeding - - they don't make any specific statements about this, and searching archived posts takes quite a bit of time because their "hits" are generalized.

Yes, this zoo supports endangered animals, they recently had snow leopard cubs. This zoo belongs to the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
